Xpert physiotherapy for sports injuries, back and neck pain, post-surgical rehabilitation, and musculoskeletal conditions. Thorough 60-minute initial assessments with hands-on treatment from your first visit. Our physiotherapists have backgrounds in elite sport and private healthcare, delivering evidence-based care tailored to your goals.
We provide movement therapy as a structured approach to improving joint mobility and reducing pain through controlled, purposeful exercises. We emphasise that appropriate movement, rather than prolonged rest, supports effective recovery by enhancing circulation and joint nourishment. Our methods also engage the nervous system, restoring confidence in movement while improving body awareness. This forms a vital foundation for further physical development and overall wellbeing.

I've had great experiences at Altius using their physio services. Having a Manchester City Centre venue as well as Bury and Hale, means it's convenient to be seen no matter where Im travelling around greater Manchester. The booking process is smooth, and all the reception staff are very friendly and knowledgeable.
Personally, I've had appointments with Doug and Charlotte and can thoroughly recommend both.
Doug takes a high-level overview assessment of the problems and wants to find and treat the cause of the pain, not just the symptoms. I have found this incredibly helpful. His knowledge of healthcare and how to work with both NHS and private systems is brilliant.
Charlotte is a superb sports therapist who can take you from initial pain management, through to PT and training in the gym again without aggravating your previous injuries. Her knowledge of how your body works together as one unit and what impacts what is amazing.
Much appreciation for the excellent team at Altius.

I highly recommend!
Ive been attending Kates class for 6 years.
I always feel amazing and 2 inches taller after her classes.
She gives great feedback through the class that always means you stay in check with your body and getting the most from the moves.
She has taught me how to truly connect with my body and know what it needs.

Kate (Hindley) is a highly experienced, knowledgable and enthusiastic pilates instructor. I have taken her online pilates classes for many years - she is by far the best teacher I have encountered. I also see her for 1-2-1s (in person). In either situation she is generous with her time, clearly knows her stuff and manages the perfect balance between encouragement and challenge. Highly recommended.

I've been doing online Pilates classes with Kate Hindley. Kate is a fabulous teacher: she always explains the exercises really well, including where you should be feeling the stretch or fatigue. She offers corrections gently without singling anyone out, and provides lots of options for participants of different abilities. The classes are great exercise and have helped me to build strength and fitness. Highly recommended.

Im a runner up to marathon distance and started Pilates with Kate Hindley during the pandemic to help with some injury problems I was having. I have carried on with one-to-one and virtual group sessions with her since.
Being a qualified physio means that Kate tailors our one-to-one sessions towards what I need to focus on most while ensuring they cover an overall body workout too. Every session is different, which makes things enjoyable, and we now cover strength, conditioning and plyometrics, in addition to more traditional Pilates.
In both the one-to-one and virtual sessions, Kate will push you enough to get the adaptation but not too much so you completely burnout. She offers options to make the exercises harder or easier depending how you are feeling, so you can manage the difficulty yourself.
Ive also done physio sessions with Kate following injuries such as sprained ankles. She undertakes the assessments methodically and gives you exercises to follow to get you back up to speed as soon as possible.
I cant recommend Kate enough and the fact I have been working with her for over 5 years is testament to that. Its no coincidence that I have been far less injury prone since working with Kate and Ive been able to run significant personal bests in my running well into my 40s.
Im really liking the Altius space at Bloc in Manchester which is modern and very accessible for people living in the city centre. The booking system is very easy to use, allowing easy changes, and Doug, the owner, has been very welcoming too since I started there.
Get yourself booked in, but dont steal my Monday slot!

Ive seen Kate Hindley over the course of a year for two separate issues: sciatica and later a knee injury, and the care has been excellent throughout.
Kate carried out thorough assessments, clearly explained each issue, and provided tailored treatment plans that really worked. The hands-on treatment and exercises helped relieve pain, improve mobility, and support long-term recovery.
She is professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely caring, and appointments never felt rushed. I would highly recommend Kate Hindley to anyone looking for high-quality physiotherapy.

I am seeing Kate Hindley for chest pain caused by costochondritis, and I cant recommend her highly enough. From the very first appointment, Kate was professional, knowledgeable, and reassuring. She took the time to fully assess my symptoms, clearly explained what was causing the pain, and created a treatment plan that was tailored to me. Her hands-on treatment and exercises made a real difference, and I felt listened to and supported throughout my recovery. Kates calm and confident approach really helped ease my anxiety around chest pain. Thanks to her expertise, my symptoms are improving significantly. An excellent physiotherapist who genuinely cares about her patients.

I've been seeing Kate for one-to-one fortnightly pilates lessons for a couple of years, and whole-heartedly recommend her to any disabled or chronically ill people who are trying to build strength. She is very knowledgeable about my conditions (HSD, POTS and fibromyalgia), and regularly checks in to see how I'm managing them, as well as encouraging me to speak to my GP when appropriate. The bloc is accessible to wheelchairs and well placed in the middle of town.

My son went to Altius after having shoulder surgery after having a rugby injury and after one session the difference was amazing he could actually move it again . The exercises and follow up treatment that Doug has given my son has made such a difference. Doug was very friendly and reassuring and came up with a good plan as we live 185 miles away from the clinic but well worth travelling that far to find a physio to get my son back fit and ready for next season .I would highly recommend Altius as all staff I have seen are friendly and helpful.
